as the title suggests, my internet drops wifi connection every hour or so. ill be playing games, vibin, when suddenly my internet just disconnects. the wifi symbol shows 3/4 bars but despite the fact, I can't get anywhere on chrome and other applications stop working. Before I was just patient and I reconnected every time, but now I'm at my wit's end because I cannot find a solution. Is there a way to fix my problem? I already changed the power settings and all that jazz and it still drops. I also read somewhere that the reason why it was dropping connections was due to the fact that the usb adaptor was overheating but im not too sure about that. any help would be appreciated om that matter.

if there is no viable solution, I was thinking about buying a powerline adapter which i assumed would be the next best affordable option for ethernet. I already know that moca is my best option but it is wayy out of my budget to buy a pair. I was wondering what kind of performance i would be looking at with a powerline adapter?

thanks

This:

"I also read somewhere that the reason why it was dropping connections was due to the fact that the usb adaptor was overheating "

Make and model USB adapter?

Before booting up feel the USB adapter to determine how warm it may be. Then boot up and wait awhile, check again but do so carefully - determine if the USB adapter has indeed gotten warmer. Then game as normal while carefully checking the adapter. If the adapter was gotten extremely warm and even hot then it is very likely at or near EOL (End of Life).

Is the USB adapter just plugged into the back of the host PC?

Try using a USB extension cable to raise the USB network adapter up and away from the computer. Hopefully into cooler air and/or a location that...

Try using a USB extension cable to raise the USB network adapter up and away from the computer. Hopefully into cooler air and/or a location that may help with transmission and reception.

There may be some improvement but bear in mind it may be time for a new USB network adapter.
