Internet lag problems

I have got internet lag issues, I have tried all possible windows tweak but it seems that the problem is that the router itself is giving me high latency, the ping command to several sites is higher than it was a month ago, what can cause this? is it from my provider? and how can I solve it?

Are you on wifi or ehternet? what is the ping like between your pc and router?
After trying this do a traceroute to a website, the next ip after your router is your ISP, what is the ping time to your isp?
