Internet lagging in games.

So I have the fastest internet plan frontier provides and I use to have the fastest mediacom provided but it's nearly impossible to play games online. I'm a huge fan of fps games but obviously you need to have a strong internet connection with and every fraction of a second counts... Well I have been lagging super bad in games for as long as I can remember. At times my internet is okay and others it's just beyond unplayable. It's got to the point where I don't even really bother to try to play games on my gaming pc at all anymore. So I just tried to play a game on my pc and I was not moving forward yet my game was lagging making me move forward and backwards. Then I could get shot but none of my shots were landing on enemies that I was aiming directly at.... I also have a ps4 and an xbox one and I often experience horrible lagging in games like battlefield 1 or 4 and cod all the time as well. I don't know what to do to fix it. I've already set my router to channel 11 to try to get the least interference but obviously that isn't working. And I have a pretty decent router I have an asus ac 1900 router that I paid quite a bit for... Any help would be appreciated greatly, I just want to get back to being able to play games that I love. Also my pc is a decent pc so it shouldn't be any issues on it's part.

Have you tested it on ethernet?

Yeah I have and it still lags occasionally.

Lagging in games isn't always due to your network connection, even latency on ping can be caused by other hardware and malware.
