Hi guys,

Just after a few pointers/suggestions for fixing my internet speed.

A couple of weeks ago, every application that uses internet appeared..."sluggish", and not as responsive as it usually does. Speed tests still give ~70Mb download.

So far I have ran anti-virus software and updated drivers, do you guys have any other suggestions?

Cheers

There is a scenario where you will have full download capability but limited/intermittent upload capability. This makes the internet sluggish, but still fast. Basically, you click something, nothing happens, then it does it all really fast.

Fire up System Monitor (for Windows) and locate your incoming and outbound traffic on your NIC and graph them. Then set up something simple to maintain a constant upload and download (I use voice traffic, log two systems into a chat and leave an open mic) If you see the outbound traffic drop to zero, then spike high repeatedly, you need to contact your ISP.

That just proves it was working at the time and they both looked like there were no interruptions. . A more continuous test might reveal a problem. Fire up a torrent client or something, doesn't matter what you download/upload. You are really looking for gaps where the throughput drops to zero.

When I had this problem there was something wrong on the lines, but I had to have two technicians come out before they figured out the problem wasn't in my wiring (which I knew the whole time) Took almost a month to get a solution.
