I have a 2mb BroadBand Internet connection. All the cables are connected well. The download starts ok @230kbps but after a few seconds it decreases to 130kbps.I use ethernet cable.
your download speed will vary depending on the site server and the load on your ip server.you will notice some downloads will be quite fast while others are slow.its not likely to be because of your internet connection.im on a 100Mb down and 5Mb up connection and ive run across these download speeds myself.

That is actually the norm for there to be an initial spike in speed and it settle down, it will usually then pick back up a portion. So lets say you get 20mbps connection speed, you will spike to 24, drop to 17 anb eventually pickup to 20-21.
Now if you are not gettin the speed you are paying for you can notify your ISP. If you have cable or dsl they may be able to do something about it. Now your connection is "up to ___ speed, not minimum ___ speed so if you are getting 1.6 and you pay for 2 then they are within their legal tems.
Yeah, I agree, pretty normal for speeds to spike at first, then taper off. But if it does not settle into pretty close to what you are paying for, especially off of peak times, then contact your ISP and let them know.
