Speed tests show:
40 down and 8 up

But getting 400-550 KB/sec...

I'm with Sky and my HDD is 2 TB ( Used 300 GB) and 500 GB SSD (used none)...? If that helps..

Trying to download GTA 5. When my games were corrupt, I had to reinstall and they were running at constant 2-3 mbps...

I am using ethernet (wired). I'm sure wire isnt damaged...
Could be drivers? However, the MSI updater is so messed up... When I click automatic scan, it scans the same updates again and i geuss their just taking over my hdd if i keep updating lol... So it basically doesn't go when I've updated... Maybe I've got a fake app? or outdated? App is called MSI Live Update 6.

motherboard is MSI Gaming 5 and the ethernet port should be same because has no brand on the port when I looked inside...

Solution
So, your connection speed to your test site was fine, it is probably the site you are downloading from. They could be on a slower connection, congested, or simply throttling. Try different sites and you'll likely see different results. On the other hand, this doesn't preclude your ISP throttling you. They may be allowing full speed traffic to benchmarking sites while artificially squeezing anything else to slower speeds.

Hmmm... They could but yesterday I saw a streamer on 7 mbps which is extremely fast. The thing is why am I not getting somewhere near the 30-40 boundary? Am I being ripped off or something lol? Or is it the traffic... And is this usual because I've been wondering for a while why the speed is under 10 and not something between 30-40 during downloads.

The speed you receive information from is not only dependent on your connection, but the connection being used at the source of your data stream. The source can throttle your data as well as your ISP. There may be very little you can do about it. Congestion at your local neighborhood level can cause slow downs, as well as congestion at the source.

If you're getting 40 down and 8 up with benchmarking, it seems pretty clear that your connection is working fine. Try other sites.

It can't be working fine can it? Now the download is at 140 KB / sec... That's basically like my old internet where I used to get 1 meg up and 10 meg down lol.

If the site you are trying to stream data from only supports sending you a 1 Mbps stream, yes, it's working fine. If the site supports sending you a 40 Mbps stream, such as your benchmarking site, then that's working fine as well. Your ISP provides you an on-ramp to the internet that allows you a certain speed, but they aren't responsible for you being able to receive that speed all of the time, any more than you can guarantee a certain speed on congested motorways. You could have an infinite connection speed, and you would still be subject to the speed at which the server you are streaming data from can queue up the data to be sent to you. Also, you're probably not the only user that is trying to retrieve data from that site, at which point, you have to accept that the site is going to spread it's available resources to serve as many customers as possible.

Perhaps try different benchmarking sites and see that even those can have mixed results, especially based on your distance from their testing server.

I thought I was having a similar issue because speed test.net showed over 50 Mbps but my witcher 3 download was showing only 6 MB per second. But there are about 8 Mbps in a single MB per second. So it's downloading at about 50 Mbps

I have had comcast internet for quite a while, I have moved pretty far across the country, in either state I have had the same internet service from them. I am supposed to have 15mb download speed and 5 up, I have tested on multiple sites over many years with the same results, which are correct. I get the 15 down and 5 up from every site for the most part. However, never, between steam, torrent, or any other method have I EVER reached over 2.4 mb a sec download speed. I have a friend many states away from either location who has Comcast and gets between 80-90 mb a second download speed. He was told by a tech that his signal was too strong and he put a limiter on it, he removed this and gets those speeds. Regardless its way more than 2.4. What gives? A tech here said its being limited by the hosts of the places I use, but that doesnt jive with the facts. Whats going on here?
