On my Mac Book i have my 40mbs internet speed that i should get but on my desktop i get 3mbs. My wireless card on my Desktop is the tp link TL-WN781ND with the latest drivers and my isp is talk talk.

The adapter you have for the pc is a low end single antenna wireless adapter - I would bet that Apple put a better wireless adapter in your Macbook....

You can try to put the antenna at different angles to see if that helps. When the antennas of the router and the PC are parallel, the greatest signal transfer is achieved. If they are at a 90 degree angle - it is considered the worst. A lot of people that have routers with 3 antennas will place one sticking straight up, another parallel to the ground and the last one at a 45 degree angle.

im on the N band and i think the connection speed is 54mbs but if you mean current download speed its 3mbs

do you know how i can do thaon my HG533 router from talk talk?

Ok im in that now

On the wireless tab - it should have a field for SSID for the 2.5GHz radio and the 5.0GHz radio - change the name so that they are different (this way you can see which one you are connecting to).

I don't know why, but my laptop will default to the 2.5GHz connection if I have them the same. I changed them and now I set the 5GHz as the default connection.

can i do this from my laptop or does it have to be from my pc and it doesnt come up with that it comes up with my wireless netowrk name(SSID) ,password, wireless channel(1,2,3...) and wireless mode(n,g,b)

Huawei HG553

I just looked at what channel my mac is running on and it is the 2.4ghz channel

So still why am i getting 10% of what im getting on my laptop?
