Hello all,

I am always uncomfortable in my ability to research these build questions effectively so I apologize for the specific question

I am upgrading my GPU to: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0

My current board/chip is: Gigabyte LGA 1155 GA-B75M-D3H with an Intel Core i5-2500 Quad-Core Processor 3.3 GHz 6 MB Cache

Is my board able to run with this card and will I bottleneck with my cpu? I plan on updating them all in the near future but wanted to piece wise this guy a bit. Side note: 600 watt PSU and 16 gb ram

Solution
Your board will be able to run with this card and it will run as fast as your entire system (including the new video card) will allow.

May I suggest that you avoid the term 'bottleneck'. There will be times when neither your CPU nor video card will be at maximum throughput. There will be times when one is and (by definition) the other is not.

The PSU wattage is enough, and stability won't be an issue even if it isn't 80-plus rated.

Thank you, I appreciate the answer and clarification of a word I have been throwing around a bunch of late. I basically use this machine to game and got a monitor my current GPU couldn't hang with. Bench mark I am shooting for is, I suppose, Witcher III running 1440p at 60-120 hz. As I understand it, this GPU can hang with this parameter in mind but I was having trouble finding an answer if my chip could keep up.
