[SOLVED] Io shield

When I was installing my Io shield I bent the little metal flaps outward (i cut my finger doing that lol) and I discovered later that they serve the purpose of grounding the ports. I tried bending them back, didn't work. I'd need to remove the motherboard from the case to do so and since I'm a noob I don't want to do it.
Is it fine if I just leave it the way it is? Won't it damage my hardware or something like that?

Otherwise a computer can run without case and IO shield.

I mean that the flaps are not making contact with the ports anymore and I'd like to know if I can just leave it the way it is.

Of course you can, there are computer cases made from acrylic and people don't even bother with IO shield.

But if the place where you live has a lot of insects, you'd better leave the IO shield in place so that they can't enter the case.
