Iomega EGo error, couldn't mount file.

I have a Iomega EGo HD that I used to backup my old computer. Now I am trying to recover it on to my new computer. Each time I dive into the file I get this message.

"The disk image isn't initialized, contains partitions that aren't recognizable or contains volumes that haven't been assigned drive letters. Please us the Disk Management snap-in to make sure that the disk, partitions and volumes are in a usable state."

In disk management the HD is recognized and shows up as Healthy (Primary Partition).

How do I recover my old files? I am a bit of a noob to the PC world.

Give it a letter if it doesn't have one

It is assigned the letter D as of right now. What should it be assigned to?
