IP Address is Different in CMD than Internet [Port Forwarding]

Well, I was port-forwarding port 25565 So me and a couple of mates could dick around on a Minecraft server, so I put my Default Gateway into google, open up the port forwarding section, then It comes up with the IP Address I want to port forward, and I can, of course, Only change the last number. I look up my IPv4 Address, then enter that in and add rule,etc. To test if it works, I go onto http://canyouseeme.org , But the thing is, The IP address Its got on there, isn't the one I port forwarded... I know there's IPv6 Address's and stuff, Internal and external, but I don't know how to port forward this IP ? 😀 Thanks in Advance...

On the router, you are port-forwarding to your internal (LAN) address, like 192.168.1.10, and this is the address you see on C:\ prompt from IPCONFIG. Your friends should use your public IP address, and you can get it by Googling / Binging "My IP address".

Okay, but when I port-forward, It will port forward my internal IP, but If I go to canyouseeme.org , it see's my External IP address, and checks the port for THAT, when the one I port-forwarded was the Internal...

Your internal IP address is known / valid only on your local network (behind the router). That's the purpose of port forwarding - to "connect" your external IP address / port to internal IP address / port.

Well it obviously isn't working then... I'm pretty sure I'm not doing it wrong though...

OK, forget everything we talked about, and start from the very very beginning - what is your problem
- you are trying to forward an external port 22555 to your computer, and is not working?
- you are confused about what address to give your your friends?
