[SOLVED] iPad (and other iOS devices) rapidly connect and disconnect

They act like they're being unplugged and being plugged back in or say not charging. It's with a 2014 MacBook Pro and only happens on the left port. I checked system report when this was going on and the MacBook detects the iPad is there as it's listed and it says 500 mA of current is available, but none is being requested. I already reset the PRAM, don't know what else to do. It will work perfect for days and then happen again.

Running iOS 11.4 (iOS 6.1.6 on my iPod touch) and macOS 10.13.4
 
Solution
As others have reported, the following might resolve the issue for you.

On the iPad tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy. This will reset your location and privacy settings and require you to set up a trust relationship with the PC/laptop again.

In addition, try using a different cable.
