Ipad problem please help

I have been using my ipad for a year and a half now and then it started to turn off by itself yesterday.
I charged it while it was in 8% thinking that the battery must be drained. But when I plugthe adapter in, it doesn't display the lighting bolt icon on the battery icon, instead it displays the FULL CHARGED icon while it's in 8%. Im very wrried so please help me. I tried to har reset, soft reset and even rsotrng it t factory settings and erase all its content. Did my update to ios 5.0.1 do this?

If it happened immediately after the upgrade, maybe but I doubt it. Sounds like a hardware issue. Take it to an Apple store for them to look at.

+1 Honestly that makes no sense whatsoever. Is this on trying to charge from any wall-socket, and your computer? Have you tried a different charging cable? I don't think it's either of those, but I'm trying to think outside the box because that makes no sense to me.
