ipad says "cellular data: no sim" cant use the internet at all.help pls!

hello! cant use the ipad i paid for. cant use the internet says searching at top left where signal icon is.
and will connect to a hub with the wifi but cant connect to the net though? is my ipad damaged it randomly picks apps etc and cant type also starts shaking icons for no reason.
i bought it refurbished with no manual is it because i havnt fully chatged it up?

if you are trying to use cellular data to get on the web, that has to be done through a company and requires a sim card like a cell phone does. hence the error you are getting.

other way to access is through wifi. you have to have a network to connect to and permission to access that such as password for it. not sure which you are trying and what errors you are getting besides the no sm card one.

hi,no there is no error messages but it will not connect to the internet and says searching even tho there is an available hub. also the settings for celullar data is greyed out and says no sim. it is a mini ipad with 4g cell

first thing to try is to hook it up to itunes and see if there is an ios update for it. if it is up to date, then try resetting it from the settings app. this can reset things and get ti back where it should be. if this does not work, then take it to apple. keep in mind if it is not under warranty they will look at it but may charge you to do it. or some fee to replace it if it is not under warranty.

if you want to use cellular data then you'll have to take it to at&t or one of the other providers to get it a sim card and configured for 4g.

thanks again for the reply! his has been more useful. Do you think the ipad is damaged? ...since it has charged it has become less glitchy and can type now without it going mad. also i worked out why the cellular data section says no sim your right i think it needs a sim inside to use that internet data which seems obvious just a shame it didnt come with the key to open the tray.
yeah as for internet it now can connect to bt FON but it costs money. i guess il unlock the trey and put a sim inside. because it wont connect to any thing without the passowrds.

at&t is an american cell phone company. sounds like you are not in the US so you'll have to find a local cell company that provides data for ipads.

it's possible the hardware is messed up but i can't know that without having it in my hands. try the reset or ios update through itunes and see if it clears these issues up. if not, then it probably is messed up and needs to go to apple to see what might be wrong. if you have an apple store nearby go there, if not go online to apple and start there for help.
