[citation][nom]baconeater[/nom]Hardcore Androiders always talk about flexibility/options. But have you ever thought that not everyone NEEDS or WANTS that? Many of my friends parents have iOS devices. They check email. browse for crap they don't need on the internet(like everyone else) Tell me why would they need to customize their phone? Why would they need to root and load a new OS? They absolutely don't need that.I am a programmer and I love trying new versions of Android on my Asus transformer, but it's certainly not for everyone.[/citation]

Having OPTIONS isn't a bad thing. They are just that....options. People like that just simply get lost and complain that it's too "complicated". But it's not. You don't have to put widgets on your phone if you don't want. Downloading ringtones, space out the apps on the homescreen. Leave everything at default and you're fine.

It's not keeping them from being able to check email or surf the web.

No I have specific reasons for hating Apple
1)Steve Jobs was an annoying prig who consistently bashed other people
2)No customization other than changing the wallpaper and where icons are located
3)No upgrade unless you buy a whole new POS
4)Overhyped
5)Riduculously zealous followers
6)Overpriced (can do the same things on a Windows/Linux machine for less money)
7)iTunes is one of the worst programs ever
8)Just not that special

[citation][nom]LordConrad[/nom]Why would anyone want an iPhone when they could have a Galaxy, a Note, or a Nexus?Anyone?Bueller?[/citation]

Better iTunes support. Love it or hate it, iTunes is without doubt the best digital distribution services for Movies, TV, Music, Books. You could argue that streaming music services are better, but if you prefer to have offline copies, you can't do better then iTunes. And iTunes only lets you sync Movies, TV and Books with Apple devices (selfish choice by Apple). I'm not a fan of Apple, but iTunes is a VERY good service and the iPhone works perfectly with it.

This whole smartphone race to the ..whatever it is that they're racing to, is starting to sound like Nerd-Football. It has the same bearing on real life (bar none) and we can all root for our favorite team. There's plenty of pathetic and wholly irrelevant disputes between the teams to bring fire in the matches and if the fanbase had a little more brawn then brains (or: weren't such pussies) there'd be full scale riots too...

Humans.. So disappointing..

[citation][nom]wemakeourfuture[/nom]You are wrong about China. They cannot afford the iPhone. The average Chinese income is 10X less than their American counter. The Chinese want an iPhone as do Indians and Brazilians by the millions but they cannot afford it. An iPhone or S3 represent close to 14% of their annual Gross Income. That's the same as an American paying roughly $5500 for a phone. Not going to happen for most people. But people in China want an iPhone just cannot afford it. The Demand curve for iOS devices is incredibly high in China. Profits for Apple is quite high in China too. The 90% Android devices in China are not the S3, Galaxy Note, DNA, Optimus G etc. they are cheap knock off Chinese android phones that are no where near those flagship phones. You know like those $50-$80 cheap android tablets same thing but for phones.[/citation]

To an extent you are right, from the perspective of an Indian. iPhone devices (both pad and phones ) are very costly in India. It is about 30% more costly compared to Samsung Galaxy S3. The contract model doesn't exist in India. Even if a person can afford to pay, that price is really very high. Samsung has over the years established a good base for support centers across the country, while apple is not bothered. That is why I say apple is non-existent player outside US and Europe. That is about Samsung and Apple.

Coming to iOS vs Android.Since iOS Devices are very costly,Android is the alternative. And there are some cheap devices available on android which gives a person with an affordable device which can certainly provide more functionality than any competing platforms. I have seen people with less technical background are able to learn android with ease.

hence as i see it, its all about the choices for both user and companies. Its upto a company who wants to take initiative and who doesn't.

But one thing is for sure Android is winning big time and in coming days with worldwide trends it will be clear.
