Hey everyone, I have a bent iphone 7 with a cracked screen and I dont think it powers on now but it used to . Maybe the logic board is working maybe its not. I’d like to repair it by myself because I really need the data on the iphone.

If the internal storage was encrypted using secure enclave, then the encryption is tied to the CPU and you'll need to repair the original board with the original CPU to stand any chance of recovering data. If you want a main board for spare parts, then look for "as-is", "parts only" and other such listings on eBay or other similar sites.

On Aliexpress, you can get the main board for ~$150. If you try booting one of those boards before pulling parts to repair your original one, keep in mind that the TouchID sensor is tied to the motherboard/CPU it shipped with, so TouchID won't work.

The thing is atm, I dont even know if the phone is powering on or not because thr taptic engine doesn’t work and the screen is cracked. Even if I just wanna repair the iphone what should I do? Should I open it up and send photos if thats gonna help?

Why don't you just livechat apple to see if you can transfer photos

um its out of warranty and its been opened before and right now it’s literally sitting in two parts. The screen on one side and rest of the phone. They’re still connected together tho

If your logic board is intact and just the screen is broken then just replace the screen.
Visit IFIXIT

If your logic board is damage, you would have to be a skilled repair techs to take on such operation.
With careful precision, you will have to remove (unsolder with hot air gun) a shielding cap, CPUs, NAND flash and EPROM chips from the motherboard.
Then you will have to careful clean them and solder each chip back into a working logic board.

Why did you take it apart? Literally the first thing to do with anything apple would be to ask them if they can get data off it.

The logic board looks fine from the outside. So I guess the first step would be to replace the screen, but if I cant get the iphone to boot up after replacing the screen. What do I do then?

If the logic board isn't synching with iTunes - which you should be able to do yourself anyway, then Apple won't do any form of data recovery no matter how much you are willing to pay for it and will have to go to a 3rd-party repair/recovery shop.

See above.

How bad is the bent on it.
My niece have bent both iPhone 6 and 7 by seating on them. Both times, I just replaced the cracked screen and both times they came back to life. Make sure to keep the original home button if you wan to to use the fingerprint function.

We should get ahead of ourselves. If it is just a crack screen it should work afterwards.
If you are not up to the task (doubting yourself), I suggest you have someone else do the repair.

The iPhone has to power on for data recovery to work.
There is hardware level recovery solution where the recovery is done from the logic board but it is expensive.
You're better off taking it to a repair store.
