When i look straight on my screen (VG249Q1A), i see the usual color (white, or purple etc) but the edges of the monitor kind of fade into a darker color (looks like theres a shadow over the colors). But when you move your head so that you look straight on the edge the darkening/shadow dissappears. Its pretty subtle but still noticeable nonetheless.

My 9 year old Ultrasharp U2713HM on the other hand display solid colors over the whole screen independent of angle, both of these screens are ips panels. I know that IPS panels have too many flaws, but cant pinpoint the problem as of now.

vignetting or grey/darker/washed out edges;
this is common on older and lower quality models.

sometimes it could be corrected through onboard display controls
but usually meant there was just a certain specific point the user had to position their head in front of the display for uniform color.

the only "fix" many times is just to replace with a better model.
