I dunno. I figure this is actually pretty good publicity for Samsung. It may smack of a payoff, no argument there, but you don't see them spouting their 'working as intended' bs.

It's pretty old news that lithium-ion batteries explode on occasion.

However, it's not very common for them to explode without there being some damage to the battery.

In any case, I'll be interested in hearing the outcome of Samsung's research on the returned phone.

WTF is this shit? Page being flipped up at bottom right conner on my iPhone every time I visit TH.

[citation][nom]clivene09[/nom]Why don't more companies behave responsibly like this. I'm looking at the Apples and Activisions of the world.[/citation]

nope, just Activision. Apple replaced all iPod Nanos 2nd gen with 4th gen iPod Nanos from the battery issue. I took in my 3GS since the battery stopped working and they gave me a replacement 16GB because 8GB were out of stock. As shitty as apple products can be sometimes, their service is rather decent.

1. You're not using orientation lock.
2. You own an iphone.
3. You're doing it wrong.

it may happen with any device, using Li-ion battery.

I recently bought an elctronic camera for my daughter, is there any reason for me to worry?

[citation][nom]Antimatter79[/nom]Damn, my wife just told me today that she wants her next phone to be a Galaxy SIII. Maybe we should wait. I don't want to end up being married to Harvey 2-Face.[/citation]

You might wait to see what Samsung says after they get the device. It could be as simple as having it docked into the wrong kind of USB dock. For example, I know I have been told to only use the USB cables that came with, or were specifically meant for my HP touchpad because most other cables aren't meant handle the same amount of power draw. There can be many explanations as to why his battery failed than specifically because it was a battery in a GS3.

[citation][nom]DroKing[/nom]Well I am curious the condition of that location of the car dock. Was it sitting in sun rays or what? There are so many variables that this person didn't mention beside the phone and dock itself.[/citation]

Well, as it was Ireland, you can discount the sun's rays as a possibility. 😉

[citation][nom]Anti China Product[/nom]Made in China Dock! LOL[/citation]

This 'made in china' bit is getting so old.
Think before typing !
The Chinese manufacture to the specifications "WE" give them !
We ask them to build crap, they build crap !

Next time you travel, hop over to China and have a look at what they can do if given the opportunity !
And while you are at it, visit Japan or Germany to see how to build cars and high speed trains.
