is 100+ FPS better than 60 FPS in Fallout 4?

I'm playing FO4 with the FPS unlocked so I can take advantage of my 144hz monitor. However due to the engine there are some slight issues with playing at above 60 FPS. I'm thinking about turning v-sync back on to cap the FPS at 60, but I just like playing at above 60 FPS so much.

However I'm not sure if playing at 100 FPS for example actually improves things that much in FO4 (I know it does make a difference in other games like shooters). I fear it's just a psychological effect because I pay far more attention to the small FPS number on the screen than actually looking at the smoothness. 60 FPS looks pretty smooth too.

So do things actually appear more smooth at say 100 or 144 FPS than when they are at 60 FPS?

Solution
Go ahead and enable Vsync. V sync WILL NOT ONLY limit you to 60fps. It limits your frame rate to whatever your Refresh Rate is.

Things do look a lot smoother at 100fps. Once you get used to it, 60fps looks like 30fps.

for fallout 4, if I enable v-sync, it caps the fps at 60.

How weird. It shouldn't. You sure you don't have the in game settings set to 60hz?

most of the weird issues have actually been fixed since 1.5, including fast lock picking. The only 2 issues I get when having the FPS unlocked is slightly faster dialogues and this glitch http://imgur.com/a/ceH4E

yeah it's weird for me too but I don't even know how or where to set that. But even if I did accidentally do that, then the game shouldn't be running at above 60FPS right now no?
Though I should mention that I set vsync to on in Nvidia panel, but not the in-game vysnc. The latter would cap my FPS at 60. Having the former on is ok.
