Question Is 12gb of VRAM enough for the next 3 years or so of gaming on a laptop?

The GPU is an RTX 4080 laptop GPU at 12gb VRAM. I just dont know if that is enough for the future. The screen is 1440p as well.

honestly should be fine even a 4080 laptop gpu isnt going to be a slouch in games. dlss will make it last a while as well. but if your talking native should be ok for next 3 years. my desktop 4070 super is around 15 percent faster then the 4080 laptop. and it just comes down to the games your playing. you can also increase the performance by improving the thermals with a higher quality thermal paste which will help the card boost longer.

if you want to get the best performance out of it the best way is to keep the laptop cool with a cooling pad.

That would be enough for the next 3 years for 1440p.

In the scope of these 3 years there will be games that might use more than 12GB VRAM in 1440p at their highest settings, but you will be able to play them just fine too with tweaking settings just a bit.
