Is 1RX8 RAM MEMORY compatible on a motherboard that can run 2RX8 RAM MEMORY?

i want to add 2 gb of ram on my dell inspiron computer:

And as i have checked my rams are 2RX8 but as you can see in the link the ram is 1RX8. Can a 1RX8 run on motherboard that supports 2rx8?

Note that 1RX8 means that the memory has the chips only on the one side and 2rx8 has the chips on both sides

Brands like Crucial and Kingston have compatibility checkers in their websites. Find a model that matches as close as possible the specs of your current RAM, and run the compatibility checker for your system.

Edit: That link to ebay, is that the RAM you're interested in buying? Check if it is compatible with your system on Kingston's website.

Remember that if you're going to mix different models of DRAM, there are no guarantees that they will work together. It's always better to buy RAM in kits.

I don' know how much RAM you currently have nor your system, but anyway, make sure you have a 64-bit OS, if you only have 32-bit, you won't benefit from RAM above 4GB.

All socket 1156 motherboards require low-density memory modules. A low-density 2 GB module has 8 chips and a 4 GB module has 16 chips.
