Is 4.2 GHz good for gaming?

I was thinking about buying Intel Core i7 7700K - 4.2 GHz.
But I want to know in general if 4.2 GHz is good for gaming.
Right now I have 3.5 GHz

Yes is good as you can see few fps gain when you go from 3.5GHz to 4.2GHz and i7-7700K can be pushed to 4.8-5GHz easily using good enough cooler.
