Okay so i'm currently going to build a computer and was wondering if 4GB DDR3 of RAM is enough.

I'm low on budget and don't want to get more than this, overall when playing games i usually have like only google chrome open with max of 2 tabs "Youtube and Facebook" thats all and running microsoft's free antivirus software that really get the job done

So what do you guys think?

4gb should be enough for just little web surfing and watch movies. I suggest any other free antivirus as Security essentials is really... crappy...

You should check AVG and Avast, both have free solution that are a lot better than Microsoft integrated ones...

Your OS will also play a role in choice of RAM size Windows 7 and 8 will use up to 2GB just for services if you don't want a huge page file on your storage drive. 6-8GB of RAM is my suggestion if you'd like a little headroom for any background apps running. I know from my own build that Windows 8 uses 2 1/3GB just on services and a few background apps running like AVG, ASUS tools and PCMeter for my gadgets. My build is as follows ASUS M5A99X Evo MB, AMD FX-8120, Patriot Viper Extreme 8GB(1866 MHz) RAM, ASUS ENGTX560 1GB, ASUS optical drive, 2x1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 64MB cache in Raid0, custom HTPC case and watercooling system
