hi

i recently built a new pc and i thought everything was fine but ive started getting issues wth the GPU, specifically its artifacting.

ive looked up multiple forum posts and some epopel say 550w is enough some say it isnt, when i heaven benchmark i dont see any problems, my cpu isnt overclocked and my gpu is even underclocked but running games seems to be where the issues start.

this is my system: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LethalPenguin88/saved/wTcbXL

i really dont want to shell out for another psu if possible but im worried that ive made a mistake, please help

That is the bare minimum spec you should use on that card and make sure it’s a high-quality PSU

It should be ok. A high clocked 2070 is about 230w, so even if we over estimate and say 250w and another 150w for cpu that still leaves room for the rest of the system. Personally I would have opted for a 650w as I like to have about 1/3 headroom over max possibly power draw but as you already have the 550w and it’s a high quality unit you should be ok.

Yes I was just making sure that they always would use a good PSU.

Also don’t run the video card underClock and see if it gets better

The Seasonic Focus Gold is a excellent quality PSU and 550W is enough so it shouldn't be the issue.

Maybe the issue is the GPU itself, know anyone locally that could try out the GPU as well? If the artifacting continues then time to RMA.

I will ask around, I was really hoping I wouldnt have to RMA my GPU, still, I've learnt a valuable lesson for my next build

Spec wise, the build should of worked fine without issues. This is not really something that you or anyone else could of predicted but it can happen. If it turns out to be a faulty GPU there's nothing you can do besides the RMA but EVGA has, at least through my experience, the best customer service out there.
