Is 750W PSU enough for my system?

Hi guys,
Recently I had some problems with my old Antec High Current Gamer PSU (900W) and I got throttling in FPS while playing games and then it just died(my PC kept shutting down unexpectedly and there was a burning smell) So I came to the conclusion that it was the PSU on it's last legs. Went down to my local PC shop and bought a Silverstone Strider Plus (750W) which I noticed was fairly reliable, Tier Two with Silver that PSU rating chart on this forum. So bought that since it was the cheapest and most reliable unit they had. Hooked it up and it seems to be working no problem so far. I'm just nervous that the step down from 900W to 750W might not be enough for my rig. Can someone tell me if 750W is enough for my system?

My Specs & Devices connected:
CPU: AMD FX 8350 ~ 4.0Ghz (8 core)
GPU:1 x Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 970 GTX
RAM: 4 x 4GB DDR3 RAM (16GB Total)
Optical Drives: 1 x Blu-Ray drive and 1 x DVD-R/CD-R combo drive
HDD Drives: 3 x Sata HDDs
USB Devices: 5 x USB 2.0 devices including Mouse and Keyboard
Cooling: Corsair Hydro H55(with 3 Fans plugged into PWR_Fan, SYS_Fan and CPU_Fan sockets)

This site tells below tells me that 575W should be enough but I'm not sure, does that sound about right? I know the more powerful video cards are pretty power hungry which is why I'm asking.

600w would be enough, 750w is a solid number for that system.

Actually, the newest generation of video card, especially nVidia brand, use less power than earlier generations. A good quality 750w Psu will be plenty to power your system.

The 970 isn't that power hungry. Adding things up in my head, you won't really cross 400W or so. Which makes me wonder about that 900W unit. The HGCs are supposed to be good, and under load you wouldn't even use half of what it can do. You should be fine with what you have, but then again that HGC 900W should have worked as well. I don't know how long you had it, but make sure you treat your stuff nice. Make sure you don't put the case/tower where it doesn't get any airflow. Meaning if you have a desk with one of those spots for computer tower, DON'T put it in there. Make sure you keep the tower and PSU free of dust. I usually dust mine around twice a year, but if you have pets or live in an area that has lots of dust then you might need to do it more often. And if the room you are in is hot, find a way to get it cooler. And finally if you have "dirty" power in your house you might want to contact an electrician and see what can be done.

Got the 900W years ago and it has lasted quite some time. I think what killed it was thermal paste from my CPU which melted in the heat and somehow dripped down on it as when I removed it, there were splashes of white sticky liquid on the back of the power supply unit close to where the opening for the cables is. It also seems to have friend my PCi sound card in the process too as the metal part of that went all black. I made sure there were no other traces of the thermal paste left on the motherboard or any of the other components.
