Question Is 750W PSU & MSI Z270 m3 Gaming compatible with RTX 3080?

I got some questions;

1. compatible with RTX 3080 ?
2. i have GTX 1070 can i make them work together ?
3. and what do i need for not having problems in future ?

1. Yes, you can put an rtx 3080 on a board from 2008 and itll work just fine, with just being speed bottlenecked by the old cpu. As for the psu, as long as its a good quality unit, the wattage is enough, even with a good cpu.

2. If youre talking about SLI, then no. only the 3090 has SLI support (3080 does not), and SLI is only possible when 2 cards are identical. (meaning 3090 with 3090 and 1070 with 1070.)
If youre talking about gpu passthrough, for a vm or something, then yes.

3. what kind of problems?
the best cpu in that motherboard is an i7 7700k, which is still okay for gaming, but is pretty slow with only 4 cores in this day and age, so it'll probably be a bottleneck in a few years.

I am looking forward to purchasing a New "CPU+Mainboard+32gb RAM+ CPU cooler if necessary" what should I buy with 1200 euro, I m not good with collecting new PC also is that AeroCool GT Case does fit with what u offered?

You asked about matching your power supply with a 3080 graphics card, I gave you a straight answer. I'm sorry, but I do not know the circumstances you are in as this wasn't stated earlier. You have been given a truthful answer. You also come across a bit poorly with your "how do you know the poor and the rich" comment, well how can I know when it's not stated anywhere in anything you said? I don't care what the cost of my kit is where you are, I care about giving good answers to questions. Not once have I suggested that you purchase the same as what I have.

As for yourself, you care more about not being able to wait to buy new MB, CPU and memory, as well as musing over a 3080?

Go buy all that kit then and pair it with your Aerocool PSU then, I really don't care either way. Can you run it? Sure. Should you run such an expensive card on it? Absolutely not.

Judging by the above you didn't need to ask the question on your power supply, you know already.

To add, there is actually one good Aerocool power supply in amongst their garbage, the Integrator models I believe. If it isn't one of those, very bad idea indeed to pair it with a 3080 card.

Problem with your PSU is not wattage, it is quality. Most Aerocool PSU's are junk. Replace it with a quality 750w, unless you like the thought of your components dying when that PSU dies, and takes your hardware with it.

Corsair TXM, RM, RMx.
Seasonic Focus Gold, or better

Unless the price is really close, just go with a 3700x. The 3800x isn't worth the added cost. Use the savings for DDR4 3600 CL16 ram. Don't go below DDR4 3200, with ryzen 3000, regardless. DDR4 3200 is the native ram speed for 3rd gen. You are throwing money at making it look pretty, sacrificing performance, and quality, with that configuration. What country are you from?

READ THE FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD <---- this is a MUST-READ to differentiate between good PSUs, and poor-quality PSUs that run a very real risk of damaging your expensive PC components.

The PSU is a SAFETY device. Not just for when things go wrong, but for how clean and steady the power is.

You're spending a LOT of money on a Ryzen 7 3800X, an X570 motherboard, and an RTX 3080. Do NOT cut corners on the PSU.

If anything, you should either wait until you can afford to buy a good quality PSU to go with your system, OR you should go for a less expensive CPU, motherboard, and/or GPU so that you can afford a better PSU.

The PSU should take priority over the other parts.



Side note: A friend of mine recently went through this issue, with an Aerocool PSU, as it turns out. She does specialized audio work, and the sound card failed. Her father, who thinks he's a PC expert (he's not), replaced the sound card. The new card blew out. He replaced it again. The new one blew out. They gave up on it, but the PC was still in use.

I wasn't sure, but I warned that "this sounds like a PSU on its way out." Eventually, the PC stopped working, with a quiet, high-pitched noise coming from the PSU, and a slightly burning smell.

At this point, I tried replacing the PSU with a known good unit. No go. Hit the power switch, NOTHING happens. As far as we can tell, the motherboard is now fried as well.


How much are you spending on the rest of the system? And, how much of a gambler are you, that you're willing to gamble by "saving" money by using a cheaper, known low-quality PSU?

I had a cheap Rosewill PSU die, and take a CPU and motherboard with it. Thankfully it wasn't in my main rig, and just a cheap setup used for netflix.

An 850w Seasonic Focus Plus Gold is most definitely not "dirt-tier".
