Is 82 degrees celsius too hot for a GTX 960?

I have an Inno3D Gtx 960 Herculez x2 and when I run games like Fallout 4, Doom, and GTA V, the temps are usually around 70 to 80 degrees celsius (it would sometimes go to 82 degrees celsius then go back to 80 after a few seconds), and 82 degrees celsius would be the highest I've seen it reach so far under load.

I previously had the same card 6 months ago but it suddenly stopped working so I had it replaced just last week and now I have a new one. And I'm afraid that maybe it's the high temperatures that caused my previous card to stop working . I tried MSI Afterburner and set the fan speed to 100% just to test if it would still reach 80 degrees, and it still did. Are these temperatures safe for my video card or am I just worrying too much?

Solution
Now we know the problem :)
Your ambient temperature is the room air temperature which is ~33C unless you use air conditioning.
Those temperatures are high and to keep things under control within your computer you need a decent airflow.
To get that you need at least:
2x120/140mm intake fans at the front/buttom/side of your case
2x120/140mm exhaust fans at the top/rear of your case
when configuring the case fans, keep in mind that intake should be slightly stronger or equal to exhaust to create positive pressure and prevent dust from coming in through unfiltered openings.
You might consider to get a better airflow optimized case.
As a temporary solution, keep the side panel open.
Graphics cards do run hot, but they are built to tolerate heat.
Some cards target 80c and adjust to run at that temperature.

How is your case cooling?
Take the covers off and see if it makes a difference.
If you get a meaningful temperature reduction, look to case cooling solutions.

Hi, thanks for your replies! I don't really know how to measure the ambient temperature here. Anyways now I'm using a custom config for my GPU fan speeds in afterburner. My settings are 40% at 40c, 60% at 50c, 70% at 60c, 85% at 70c, and 100% at 75c (I'm still experimenting with these settings). And I tried to take off the side panel of the case as you guys suggested and now GTA V wouldn't even reach 70c! It stays around 65c-69c; Doom also stays around 69c; but Fallout 4 though would still reach 81c although it usually stays around 78c at 100% fan speed. But I guess I have to test out the temps again tomorrow afternoon because that's when it's the hottest where I live (around 33 C/91 F).

My case has a 120mm fan in the front for intake, and a 90mm fan (which is the largest size that could fit) in the back. I have the choice of installing 2 more fans 120mm fans at the side of the case.

So I bought two Cougar Dual X 120mm's and installed them on the side panel and now my temperatures are similar to when I took off the side panel. Doom and GTA V would stay around 68c - 70c but the maximum temperature while playing Doom was 72c, GTA V was 75c, but Fallout 4 would still reach 82c then immediately go back to 80c or 79c. Any thoughts to further improve the temperatures would be nice :)
