Hi Everyone my little cousin is wanting to upgrade his PC he has a gtx 1050 and a 4560 Pentium and wants to put in an i5 7400 and a gtx 1660ti is a 450 watt power supply enough?

Solution
Yes true, the AMD Ryzen 2200G is also an option and just a little cheaper with a decent B450 motherboard. With the Ryzen 3xxx coming this year maybe even a better alternative, but the i3 8100 will still do a good job with the 1660 ti.

This is also a still decent upgrade to the old system,
Brand new INTEL i7 7th Gen 7700 3.6Ghz Processor | Components | Gumtree Australia Brisbane South West - Calamvale | 1211571809
but imo only i the old has a decent motherboard and like 16gb of ram of minimal 1600mhz speed.

Unfortunately, I went to ASUS.COM and saw that it couldn't support 8th. I do not like i5 7400. Because it seems like i3-8100
its the only option he really has because the i7 7700 is $500 in Australia and the i5 is $300 and he doesn't have enough money to buy a whole new motherboard and cpu

Nothing used available? Can understand you don't want to upgrade a whole platform, but $300 is alot of money for just a cpu.

Already better, but because of ram more expensive,
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i3-8100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($187.39 @ Amazon Australia)
Motherboard: ASRock - B360M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($109.00 @ Umart)
Memory: Patriot - Viper Elite 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($78.10 @ Newegg Australia)
Total: $374.49
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

He could try and get some money back by selling the old parts.

Don't know what the gtx 1660 ti costs, maybe you might look at something else there? Can understand you want that though.;)
