Is a 450W PSU enough for this mid-level build

Hi,

I'm working on building a PC for a friend, but I'm not sure what wattage of power supply is best. Here are the specs:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+.
GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-3757-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 .
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz.
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866.
HDD: Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM.
Optical drive: SAMSUNG SH-224DB/BEBE, DVD-RW.
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.
Case Fans: 3 120mm Cooler Master fans.
Case: NZXT Source 210 S210-001.
+ usual USB devices.

I'm thinking a 450-500W would leave enough headroom. This is the PSU I'm considering:
SeaSonic SSR-450RM 450W

Would really appreciate anybody's opinions on this PSU and wattage.
Thanks.

Seasonic PSU are always a good choice. 450 is plenty. That PC will draw 150-160 watts at full load. Adding 10-15% for over clocking still would put you right around 200 watts, again at full load.

Only a 95 watt CPU, and that GPU will draw maybe 50 watts.

Going larger on the PSU than you need just makes the PSU less efficient, which means more heat, and more wasted energy.

So would you suggest I go lower? I have just heard that one should have a little extra wattage (not a lot) than the minimum. Also, while the GPU may not draw much, the specs for it say it should have at least a 300watt PSU.

Well I know for sure that 750W is excessive. Also, your post looks more like an ad than a suggestion, since you don't say why I should go for that PSU or wattage.

I wasn't planning on overclocking. That's partly why I was thinking 450 would be enough. But thanks for the suggestion.

Always plan ahead with a PC. You may want to Upgrade the CPU, FX-8XXX chips overclocked eat more Watts, you may also at some point may want to Upgrade your GPU which will also use more Watts, so always leave plenty of room. A 500 Watt supply of good quality is a great starting point for a Single GPU system, I never build lower unless it's a non Gamer PC or a HTPC.

Thanks. I'll hit the middle between you and Mr5oh's suggestions and just go with the 450W. The extra 50W a 500W would give isn't probably going to be that essential if I decide to upgrade. Thanks for both of your suggestions. Sorry I can only pick one solution on the forum.
