As far as I know this should pass with the 650 I currently have, but I am scared that my PC will die in a few days once built if I am lacking..here are my proposed specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($258.32 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($163.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($88.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($112.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.95 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 290 4GB Double Dissipation Video Card ($358.37 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Case: NZXT H440 (Blue/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($72.99 @ NCIX)
Speakers: Logitech S120 2.3W 2ch Speakers ($12.50 @ Vuugo)
Total: $1258.07

Your 650w should be more than enough to handle your system, even with mild overclocking, and also it's not a terrible PSU that's going to take your system out with it.
There should be nothing to worry about, but dont try running 2 r9 290s with that psu.

I personally run an r9 280 on a 500w evga 500b and it's been fine since

What would you say is the safest level I should OC to?
And, I can always upgrade my PSU in the future provided I needed to OC more, correct?

Even at peak load you shouldn't exceed 500W(obviously not considering spikes, which you should not be worried about with quality PSUs).

Quality and amperage is what really matter. That PSU is MORE than good enough, even with considerable overclock running.

EDIT : Just a side note, I don't trust XFX graphics cards the last 2 generations. Their failure rate and temperature issues are just too common. You may want to keep that in mind.

Hi Novuake, well I don't know if I can afford the extra 100$ to spend on a different manufacturer..how wary should I be of this? If I keep my gaming sessions short, should I be okay? I have the NZXT H440, does this provide sufficient airflow? I have no aftermarket fans yet, or a CPU cooler, but they will come eventually.

I appreciate your insight, and I have read similar reviews..but, the price and the design are too good to pass up! I won't push it too extreme..
