Is a custom water cooling loop for only the CPU worth it?

I don't know how to do a custom loop, I can learn, but should I go for an AIO cooler instead? How long do AIO coolers last? I don't want an air cooler.

I do a lot of video editing, rendering etc.. with multiple adobe softwares and high end gaming at 1440p 144Hz ultra settings. I also want it to last for ages so I don't have to upgrade. I have money to throw around.

In answer to your original question...
Custom liquid may or may not be 'worth it' for the CPU only.

This is only if you are looking for the far reaches of overclocking.
But really, that is more of a hobby thing than a need.

And I would NOT use a $5,000 box to test my custom skills on.

For a good AIO, the Cryorig A80.

But $1500 for the CPU?
Samsung Pro SSD's? (you know they are not any faster then the EVO, right?)
6TB WD Black?

For that $100 in fans...you need to determine those as part of a whole.Not just 'have a bunch of fans'

And $200 for the case? $200 for the PSU?

There is an easy thousand dollars you can shave off that.
I don't know about you, but 'having money to throw around' does not mean 'having money to waste on useless crap'

It'll be worthwhile if applied correctly.
Before you consider CPU water cooling, consider the fact that most likely air cooling is suffice for daily workflow, a CPU water cooling is mandatory if you run CPU intensive program (keep your CPU at 100% load most of the time) such as Corona Rendering.
Cons : electric bills, so make sure that your works using your PC will be paid off handsomely.

  ■ The best buy would be expandable AIO with triple 120mm fans such as EK XLC Predator, Swiftech H220 and Fractal Design Kelvin, Yes they are expensive that's why time you gain for faster completion mean lesser waiting time and more working (or leisure) time.
  ■ For me working on eyes-pleasing PC somehow keep my creativity mood going, with expandable AIO you can replace fans, tubes and maybe add colors to coolant.

To find out product MTBF you can check from its official website, if the official website doesn't include its MTBF either the product will not broken down of operational cycle or relatively new so I guess they've been using it and will update their result on web page. http://www.cryorig.com/qf140.php http://www.cryorig.com/a-series_us.php , no MTBF so USAFret might suggest you good cooler.
