Is a GTX 980 ti ok with a 1080p60hz for now?

I'm going to be building a gaming pc but am on a tight budget. I want to get a 980 ti (and i7 6700k) just for now and then next year, get a another 980 ti and the new Asus ROG PG279Q 165 hz monitor. What will happen if I just get a 1080p 60hz 1ms monitor right now? Lots and lots of screen tearing? Or should I just downgrade? Thanks!

You would max out anything out now and probably even everything next year at least. :p
I'd sitll stick to it, if you get a 165Hz screen next year. It's also a 1440p screen and i would recommend a single 980ti for 1440p 60Hz gaming. But 165Hz will be ALOT harder to get so yea stick to the 980ti and pick up another one next year and put them into SLI. :)

First time I read a a 980Ti and an i7 CPU talked about in a "tight budget" LOL

That combination will run any game at 1080 resolution at very high settings at 60 solid frames unless there is some limitation in the game engine.
