Is a iEEE (firewall) important when picking out a new motherboard?
Why?
How does it work?
Thank you!
iEEE is a professional organization, it has nothing to do with motherboards. A firewall has nothing to do with motherboards either...
I am going to go way out on a limb here and guess you are refering to iEEE standard 1394 which describes the FireWire interface?
Its not important. At all. Unless you have a device that uses it already. Some old video cameras did. If you don't know what it is you probably don't need it.
Basically its a way to connect devices like USB that Apple tried to push. It was faster than USB for a little bit, then got passed up by USB. Then they made a new faster version that hardly anyone used because they changed the connector, ESATA was around for harddrives, and now USB 3.0 had passed it up again.
So unless you have a device that uses FireWire already you dont need it since its really just a failed connection standard, and modern devices use USB.
