the 5870 is about as fast as a 6950. its still a decent card, although not the best on power consumption and temps as is the new generations. as well, tesselation support on the 5xxx series cards was terrible
I can get a 5870 for £85, as opposed to a 7850 for £130, which one is better?
Btw, does a 5870 use 2 pci slots?
It only uses one slot.
The 7850 is significantly faster than the 5870, but then that 5870 is a lot cheaper. It's potentially good value if you can live with having an older card that uses more power and is probably noisier.
I can play with it to be honest, I may end up going with a 7850 if it's cheap enough, what about this? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1GB-MSI-Radeon-HD-7850-OC-4800MHz-GDDR5-GPU-900MHz-1024-Cores-DVI-HDMI-2x-m-/130851865017?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item1e776101b9
not too bad if thats the only place in the UK you can get it
i know UK prices are steeper than in the US
that card comes with free bioshock and tomb raider? what are you waiting for?

That's literally the cheapest I've found, is it worth it?
thats about the same price as the one i linked, and comes with two free games... yeah id say its a very good buy.
The only thing is i wouold go with the 2gb version, but if thats all your budget allows, then you should be happy with the 1gb version. plus, if you factor in the prices of two new titles to be released, then it more than makes up for the gap in price between the 5870 and 7850. Also, its newer tech, runs cooler, and uses less power.
