If you have cable maybe you can afford a cable modem? That would help.

<A HREF="http://www.counter-strike.net" target="_new">Counter-Strike</A> is the most popular modification. (mod)

It is a lot of fun. Terrorists vs. Counter-Terrorists. It uses real weapons. (MP5, AK47, Beretta, Glock, etc.) Each of the weapons has its own charateristics. (Speed of movement hinderance due to bulk and weight, rate of fire, accuracy, kickback, damage, etc.) The gameplay is very realistic. (Not like UT or Quake III where playablility is faster than real life.) Check out the site and come to your own conclusions.

If I could afford cable, I'd be a happy man. Maybe in the near future when I get a raise. Until now though, the new house has sucked my finances dry.

As for CS, I'll have to consider it. Maybe I'll celebrate my new raise by obtaining a copy. It sounds somewhat interesting. Though I'd presonally rather see someone finally develop a mod (or start from scratch) that fits into a more medieval/fantasy type role and is based primarily on hand-to-hand weapons. (And comes up with a much more interesting way to use them than just Heretic/Hexen style.) I don't suppose CS contains any new alien-ware? While not technically realistic, it is always fun. :)
