I’m looking to get a new cpu but I don’t know if any of the ones I’ve looked at are good. I found the Ryzen 5 5600 and I want to know if it is good for games like cod and apex.

Cpu: Ryzen 5 3400g
Gpu: gtx 1650
Ram: 16gb
Motherboard: A320m-k
HDD: 1tb

Also if I got an ssd would it give me more fps and less freezing in games?

Solution
R5 5600 would be a nice upgrade.
You may need to first update the bios to support the later gen chip.
Some games are cpu limited and some are graphics limited.
Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

As to a ssd, I would highly urge you to upgrade.
Everything you do on the desktop will be quicker.
I doubt any benefit from higher fps.

But you may get a benefit from stuttering.
The HDD is used for user game checkpoints as well as loading graphics textures.
A SSD will do this some...

Topic header is 3600, question is 5600... I think it is a reasonable CPU for gaming, perhaps an 5800 would be better. Provided you only want to use same motherboard.

ssd won't help games that way, just load times. Could stop freezing if its from loading from drive

A SSD will do this some 10x faster.

Should I get a b450 instead of updating or should I just update it?
Also I’m pretty sure that it’s cpu limited because I used msi after burner and my cpu was at 100% and my Gpu was below 85% all of the time
