[SOLVED] Is a titan x worth it for $225

I am rebuilding my pc from a ryzen 3 2200g build, and already have a ryzen 5 3600. I have a pretty strict budget of 250 dollars which is tight at this time for anything. My original plan was to just wait until prices drop and buy something used in the future, but have a friend who’s selling his Titan x for 225. Is it worth it?

The card is 6 years old and has similar performance as a GTX 1080 Ti for reference that I've seen. You will be able to play most games at decent settings at lower resolutions with your CPU but at higher resolutions, you will sacrifice "eye-candy" / graphics to get better FPS. It doesn't compare to any of the newer AMD or Nvidia cards but if that is your best and only option, it will be a okay stop gap till you can get a new AMD or Nvidia card.

I think it has to be said... There are pretty much 3 Titan X cards. The Titan X(Maxwell), Titan X(Pascal), Titan Xp (Pascal). The Titan Xp is the best. Titan X(Maxwell) is the worst. The performance ranges anywhere from GTX 1070 to somewhere around an RTX 2080 Super (Non ray traced) performance. To be honest I think you'd be better off with an RTX 3060 or something like that. It's just slightly more money if you can find it. Your friend probably has the Maxwell Titan X. At $225 the Pascal Titan X is very much worth it. If it's the Maxwell one I'm not really sure I'd get it.

And you cant get the gtx 1070 below 300e in my country.
So for $225 i would still get it even if its Maxwell.

Yeah it’s a maxwell, if i’m gonna get anything else i might as well wait then to see what prices do in the future. although a 3060 rn can’t be found for anything near 225 rn.

I'd try to talk him down to $180. I mean It's sub $200 performance level. Of course prices are inflated right now but it won't be that way forever. If you can't get him to budge on the price go to ebay and bid on GTX 1080's. You'll probably eventually be able to get one around $200 or $300 or somewhere in-between.

im pretty sure the card is maxwell not pascall, 1080ti performance should not be expected.
