Hello folks ,
Recently I have been facing CPU bottleneck in some games , mostly in GTA 5 with my current i3 4130. So I was thinking about getting an i5 but problem is that I don't have enough cash to buy a new motherboard and 7th gen i5.
So I can only upgrade to an i5 4th gen...
Is the upgrade worth it?
Can it last 2-3 years?
Specs-
Cpu-i3 4130 @ 3.4 ghz
Ram- 2x4 (8gb) ddr3 1600 MHz
PSU-500 watt
Gpu- Msi gtx 1050 2 gb OC
Motherboard- Asus h81m-cs

Sadly I am on a very tight budget

How about a xeon with similar or better performance than an i5? If it's cheaper I'll grab one...

If you want to last another 2-3 years, I'd recommend getting an i7 4790K even if your motherboard can't overclock. That CPU has a base clock speed on all four cores of 4GHz vs. my i5 4690K base full core speed of 3.5GHz and the Xeon E3 1231's 3.4GHz.

If you mostly game, the i7 is a much better value and is not priced much more than the top end i5 4690K from resellers who still have them in stock new (eBay sellers I'm looking at). You should upgrade to 16GB memory as well while you are at it as more and more AAA games are putting 16GB in the "recommended" spec column and 8GB in the "minimum" spec column.

Of course it depends on what you can buy one for. Here's a new 4790K on eBay from a reputable vendor (never buy a used K-series CPU...

Here's a new 4790K on eBay from a reputable vendor (never buy a used K-series CPU as you never know if it was abused in overclocking): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-BX80646I74790K-Quad-Core-4-0GHz-8M-LGA1150-Processor-NEW-/282609576454?epid=197284894&hash=item41ccd7ea06:g:mywAAOSwaopZi9P-

With that said, your weak link would be your GPU. That 2GB 1050 GPU will severely limit an i5 or i7 in gaming performance. If I were you, I'd upgrade the GPU on a tight budget to minimum of a 3GB GTX 1060 or say a used GTX 970.
