I'm searching for a laptop for college work + occasional gaming (ie. Age of Empire, League, Maple, Minecraft). The laptop I'm considering to get has an AMD A8-5545M Accelerated Processor.

Would that be good enough?

Thanks. 🙂

Age of Empires? Oh please, PIIIs can run that. And if you mean the modern ones; even then, yessaroo.
League? Won't run great on the dual FX modules but will run acceptably if the throttling isnt bad.
Maple? They were generous when they said PIII was the minimum spec. This is more than enough.
Minecraft? You're definitely good to go.

For the game you want to play it is fine. For more modern games that are a bit graphics intensive you should generally be able to play at medium quality graphic settings @ 1366x768 resolution. For games that are graphic intensive, then you need to turn down the graphics to low.

Upgrade your memory and it will run most games in 720p.
1080p will be a stretch and you will have to run low-mid settings at best. You really NEED faster RAM and two sticks to run dual channel. RAM makes all the difference when using igpu. Gaming performance with 1x4GB 1333mhz RAM will be terrible.

He doesnt want to play graphically intense games. He'll be fine.

You should really look for an A10 equipped with an 8750m, along with 8gb of ram. The specs you list will be very hard pressed to play any modern FPS @30fps, even at low settings.

You underestimate the APU greatly.

Plus hardly any of what he wants to play is modern. And it'll definitely run all the games listed at above 50. I have an A6-4455M and do exactly that with the games he listed. Some of the games are maxed.
