Question Is an external disc drive compatible with my laptop ?

Hi, I've got a Lenovo Ideapad 100 which has an inbuilt disc drive which has recently become faulty after much use. Would an external disc drive be compatible with this laptop? Thanks.

You mean to put Windows on an external and boot from it?

Not likely.

For data only, not Windows? Yes.

No nothing like that. I just want to burn files onto a dvd-r or a cd-r.

Even USB 2.0 is sufficient for a DVD at 24x.

But I expect most people would just replace the internal drive instead because that's cheaper.
