is around 98 degree celsius too high for full load oc?

I have a intel i5 2500k oc to 3.5ghz. I have a nocuta l9i cpu cooler, not the best but i got a 200mm fan above and a 120mm exhaust as well as a 200mm fan front intake. primed for around 8min i got around 96isg degree is that ok? without oc i get around 73 degree Celsius average. If ill be playing bf3 ultra which i usually do would my cpu go on full load? or minecraft? how abot about video rendering? what makes the cpu go full load without prime and without putting like 10 programs at once

Too high there. Those temps are dangerous for your CPU

I agree. I have my CPU temps about the same for full load. 3570K, 4.7GHz CM Hyper 212 EVO.
I think 98°C is pushing it.

ill might be getting a new cpu cooler corsair h100 or noctua d14, and possibly the thermalrigh silver arrow... all cost around the same

Not bad. Most people prefer to stay under 80°C though. I have also met some people who refuse to let their hardware pass 60°C. A little ridiculous, but still.

Uh, you OC'd it to 3.5 GHz? You only bumped it 100 MHz? Your temps shouldn't even be that high.

Also, 98C is the TJ Max for Sandy Bridge, so once you hit that, the processor will throttle and not perform to its fullest.

All sorts. FX, SB, IB. But I believe their reasoning was safety and longevity of the CPU(s). Heat doesn't often limit the life of a CPU though, unless it is extreme all the time.
