Is ASRock G31M-S an overclocking mobo?

hello guys... today i saw that there's saboteur game released in Russia... well, it comes to the States on 8th. i saw the requirements though... it needs quad core cpu, which i don't have. i have, though, intel core 2 duo e7300 @ 2.66, and the minimum cpu that it needs is intel pentium dual core @ 2.4. but i want more! i want it to run well, when i'll get my 5850 videocard... so, i need step by step guide on how to overclock the cpu on such motherboard if it's possible... and also, my computer is running 24/7... will it be ok? the cpu is less than a year old, and well, who knows, maybe i will get an i5 soon, but for now, that's what i need - to max out from the cpu... so, i need to know
1. where i should go in the BIOS settings
2. where i should go in the settings settings
3. how do i get to the multiplier
4. isn't it dangerous to overclock? i know there's risk, but i'll get (see 5.)
5. http://enuinc.com/fan-cpu-zal-011.html cooler. i think it'll do fine. what do you say?
6. how long will the overclocked cpu work?
7. finally, to play well in the Saboteur, how far should i overclock?

i (will) have a 500w psu, will that be enough for the oc? (with 5850)

max to 3.2 i guess, since if it requires 2.4 per core w/ 4 cores, it'l be 4.8 with 2... unreal...

Hi I have an Asrock Wolfdale (Intel i945GC chipset) runing a C2D e7300 just like yours. I dont know about the asrock g31 because im thinking in upgrade the Wolfdale to a g31 or g41 chipset, but for overclocking I recommend base in what I read Gigabyte or Asus Mobos, the Gigabyte G31 are a great overclocker, but be careful the S2C model have the pci xpress x16 running at x8. I had a minor OC with my 7300, however with this mobo I cant raise the VCore an neither the mobo eve if I set the voltage on "HIGH" I dont know how well could the ASrock g31 go on that. It has better capacitors (I think solid) and supressed the coils (wich wolfdale still have)

I overclocked my e7300 to 3.06 (same as a e7600) I could run it at 3.16 but didnt pase prime 95, and some games crashes time to time. Now I have like this

VCore between 1.128 and 1.144 (most of the time 1.136)
Bus 306mhz
Multiplier x10
FSB 1223mhz
DRAM:FSB Ratio 10:8
DRAM Clock 382mhz (DDR 764)

tRAS15 (18 is not an option even on higher clocks)

Rams are Kingston Pc-5300 DDR2667 3gb dual channel (or at least think so)

If you dont mess with VCore (I cant on my mobo) you should be fine, the temperature raises linearly with frecuency and square with voltaje. W=C.V2.f That a fancy formula but you have to know C, and W is the power dissipation. Stock TDP of the e7300 is 65W, and the zalman has been review with CPUs with 130W (more W more heat) TDP so you have plenty room to OC with that cooler. Just remember to keep an eye on the CPU voltaje. Try not to pass 1.36 as Intel recomends but you can go to 1.4 if you like to acomplish 4.0ghz

I dont know if this help you enough but I if you got oher questions about Asrock mobos let me know, already had a Conroe and now a Wolfdale, for low end OC works fine, but dont ask to much.

Ram is pc5300(667 mhz) running at 764 mhz (but it runned at 900+ mhz on an other mobo).
I can't raise cpu voltage but it should not be needed at these frequences yet.
Pcix bus is set to 100 mhz(default)
What could be preventing my cpu to overclock more?

Mikogan, check if your mobo have OC trough jumper. The G31M-S has, and automatically OC form FSB 800mhz to 1066mzh. I oced a 420 just like yours with the jumper from 1.6 to 2.14 and afterthat trough bios o 2.4, and runs smootlhy!
