Is Asus Good?

I am building a pc and picking my parts on pcpartpicker.com. When i told my friend that i might go with a Asus GTX 960 he said they were not very good. So is that a good card? What is a good card under $300

They are one of the best. ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte and MSI. Go with one of those and you will be fine. If you want to get the best card for under $300, get a 970. If you want to get the best bang for the buck and save a little money, get a 960.
