Is ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero supposed to come with a POST speaker?

yeah, when you say used to, maybe in the 90's but it's been a LONG time since they came with one. Right around the time motherboards started to offer soundcards about at the level of the PCI versions the speaker on the MB vanished.

No, this was around 2005. I have an old Jetway (lol) mobo that I just pulled a speaker from.

While you're here though, can you tell me why my ASUS ROG Swift won't display on bootup (new build so no OS installed yet). I thought this board had integrated graphics? Do I need to put in an old card so I can install drivers?

BUT - isn't a swift a monitor? whats the motherboard? an Asus Maximus IX Hero? Those have an IGPU built into the cpu. so without a cpu you won't get graphics.

No worries, I'm a lil buzzed myself. Yes, the swift is a monitor with a an HDMI input and yes, the Maximus IX Hero is a motherboard with an HDMI output. I have an i7 7700k with an H60 block cooling it. 16 gigs of ripjaws 25600 and 750 watts of corsair pumping through its' veins. When I start up the new build, it doesn't display on the swift. This poses a problem because I can't see stuff.

Great question. But I'm less concerned with the speaker now and more concerned as to why my monitor won't display the BIOS. Maybe I should start a new thread.
