Question Is Athlon X4 970 compatible with GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.x)?

I am putting together a PC out of different parts that I have had for years.

I know that the official list of the supported processors does not include the 970, but I though that it could not be that much different from the 950. Yes, I do have the mb and the processor listed in the subject and cannot make them work together. Have any of you ever used them together and could actually boot the PC?
