current board and spec is
msi B450-A PRO MAX
ryzen 5 5600
16GB (2x8gb)
Rx 6600

just a dilemma, i want upgrade my m.2 from klevv Crass C730 512GB to MP44L (yes gen4) since gen 3 and 4 the price almost same at 1TB .
but the problem my current board only have 1 slot m.2 and idk worth it to B550 or better get pcie extention for ssd? and the board only avaliable pcie 2.0 x1 and x4

B550 is the chipset, which board are you looking at as an upgrade over your msi B450-A PRO MAX? One other thing is that you should be able to hit DDR4-3600MHz(if your current ram kit is DDR4-3600MHz and can't do that with your B450 chipset board).
ah the different only speed ram support, yeah better i skip it
You can install M.2 PCIE adapter in x4 slot.
That would give you one additional M.2 slot.

M.2 PCIE adapter is easier and less expensive option.
But it's your choice.
if put ssd on pcie adapter, will there be any changes in game loading or when opening an application?
special for pcie 2.0 x4

Don’t change. If you’re just gaming, I’m not even sure you’ll notice a lot of difference except a slight difference in loading times, even between a sata ssd vs an nvme.

You may find this interesting.

If you are really that concerned, you could even get a 500gb sata ssd for a boot drive and get a larger high quality nvme to put in the m.2 slot. But as you can see on that video a lot of their team even felt like the sata drive was faster. But as some of the other team members said you can get adapters cheap.

Other than the m.2 slot, I think the pcie slot is pci e 3.0 vs on the b550 might be 4.0. But on a lot of gpus the difference in performance between the 2 isn’t much if any.

Yeah as you can probably see there or in other videos I’ve seen, even if using a sata ssd for gaming you’re maybe talking a second or 2 for loading times so you’re not missing out on a lot of stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, not that a b550 isn’t a good board but an4 is a dead end platform at this point and if you’ve got a decent working setup, imo save the money towards an am5 box later.
