Hi to all,
I have been experiencing some CPU heating issues while playing games.
The CPU is i7-6700HQ.
It reaches temps up to 84 degrees Celsius for a short period of time while playing games!
It hasn't throttled so far,I have monitored it for throttling via hwinfo OSD sensors while playing, but I am concerned about its life-span!

I would like to down-clock it via ThrottleStop,in order to drop down the temps, but I would firstly like to know if the down-clocking is safe, and could not make any king of damage to it!

Please tell me!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!

Underclocking is safe, same as OC, what is not safe on OC is increasing voltage. What is bigger problem is that you have notebook and there you dont have much OC options except intel XTU that may work, better try cleaning and replacing thermal paste. Only other option you have is undervoltage with intel XTU, this can lower your temperature much more than underclocking, but you could get some instability. Some cpu can go to -180mV, and if yours is good this could easily get you under 70c.

Dear CountMike, thank you for replying to me!
Is there a way I can automatically underclock the CPU only while playing games?
