Is dell xps studio (desktop) okay for gaming

A friend of mine said that the current Dell XPS systems are actually a good deal for a current, up-to-snuff gaming system and I priced one out for about 1200 and was wondering what the community's thoughts were Dell circa 2010. I'm on the fence about building my own, which I've never done, and just buying something I can upgrade a few years down the road. I'm looking to play all the latest games and obviously whatever comes out over the next few years, with settings on high.

i'd also suggest looking at ebay.

There are a ton of i7 920, 6gb, 750gb, ati 4350 dell systems selling for around $700.

Depending what games you play you'd maybe want to invest in a better video card and probably psu.

Since I need a monitor as well (included!), this seems like a really good deal. My question to you guys is what kind of gaming performance can I expect out of the setup given, and what upgrades offered would I be wise to take (video card, et cetera.)
