is disabling hyper threading reduce rendering time ?

i have pc for my job (3d Designing ) that it has i7 6700k
i seen on some webs if i disable hyper threading it will reduce rendering time
i just want is it true?
if yes how much percentage it will be increased ?
is it worth doing?

I agree!

The only sure way is disable it and try it and see for yourself.

In my own experience is some applications Hyper Threading is a benefit, in others it is a detriment, you just have to discover if it benefits the application rendering time.

In the BIOS the Hyper Threading Enable/Disable is usually under CPU functions, for an ASUS M/B under the advanced tab.

Those links are old. Software has gotten better. Except very few fringe scenarios, disabling HT will decrease your rendering performance.

Those links are old. Software has gotten better. Except very few fringe scenarios, disabling HT will decrease your rendering performance.

Agreed. HT will generally give a 20% or so bonus to performance. There are fringe cases where it can result in a loss of performance, but those are the exception, not the rule.

And have YOU tried it? it'lll be an hours worth of work, encoded something, turn HT off, encoded it again.

Note that his machine wasn't turboing, and he didn't know how to make it do that, that to me puts a huge question mark over his technical knowledge on the hardware side.

at work i use the pc that i am talking about and i don't have permission to change bios setup of my pc i must making sure that this config working Correctly then i want from it man of my office came and apply these setting on my pc
Is there someone here who has the a capability to do so?

as many people said just try to see the results

in more opinion it just doesn't make any sense cause hyperthreading was entirely designed for accelerating heavy tasks (rendering included)

but of course things like games doesn't benefit a lot of hyperthreading, indeed, they could have worse framerates with HT eneabled
