Is GA-970A-UD3 rev 1.2 compatible with GTX 1060?
The last BIOS update was in 2012 so it makes me unsure

Yes. Compatible. Your board has PCI 2.0 x16. I used my 1060 on PCI 1.0 Core2Duo system and it worked.
